Excited to welcome Cape Cod’s own Breezy Beats to our workshop roster!! Breezy Beats, aka Amar Rambhadjan, has been making beats since he was a teenager. Recently venturing to Miami, FL to take on the industry, he was lured back to Cape Cod and now makes his presence known at one of Massachusetts largest public television stations where he holds classes on beat making. His astonishing YouTube channel currently yields over 55,000 subscribers and multi millions of views!! Come join our discussion with Breezy/Amar and foray into the world of beat production, which is a multi-million dollar industry within itself! ONLY $35 to attend!!

Composing for Reality TV!

Join us for this SPECIAL seminar as we present Sean P. Hagon (Chair Professional Music Dept. Berklee College of Music, composer for American Pickers and more) for a glimpse into the world of composing music for reality TV shows.  Sean has been composing for TV for years now and includes American Pickers, The Filthy Rich Guide, Ghost Asylum, and The Deed! Having scored for History Channel as well as PBS, this panel seminar is sure to be a very informative session on composing and the actual business of how it gets there. ONLY $35 to attend!!

Mixing for the Big Screen – Hollywood Movie Techniques

Join Cape Cod Sound School’s own Jay Sheehan as he discusses the techniques and equipment used for mixing feature films and long form TV as they do it in Hollywood! This workshop will provide analysis, production workflow, and modern equipment reviews, as well as studio design details. Will look at Pro Tools setup, alternatives such as Nuendo, and everyday plugin helpers like products from Izotope, Waves, and McDSP.  ONLY $25 to attend!!

What Re-Amping: What? Why? and How to?

Night Owl Recordings Academy is presenting a class about the methodology and technique of re-amping, or re-amplification. Presented in association with Cape Cod Sound School, this class will teach you what it is, why you use it, and how to do it correctly. Re-amping is a popular tool and technique used with today’s music recording. We will discuss in detail the tools used, show examples of, and put this technique to use with hands on training. We will have discussion time on what it is to “re-amp” and the equipment used followed by hands on techniques for making this new sound. This class is for all levels. Light refreshments will be served.

This class meets in the Night Owl Recording Studio on the lower level of the Education Wing.

May 19th, 2018 !!

This workshop presents today’s production sound mixer role for location sound recording for film, television, and documentary.

Production Sound Mixing is the professional title for on-location recording for film and television. This is where dialog, ambience, and sometimes sound effects are recorded on-site while filming. Presented in association with Cape Cod Sound School, this class will teach you what it is, how to get the best results, and the equipment used for it. It will discuss recorders, mixers, camera hops, mic techniques, lavaliere issues, and what IFB, frequency coordination, and timecode are.

> 10am-12pm – Basics, gear talk, hands on training
> 12-12:30 – Lunch
> 12:30-2:30pm – more hands on training – mic technique, IFB and hops

Front of House (FOH) mixing may be fun and exciting, but nothing will sound good if the band doesn’t here themselves correctly! In this workshop we will explore the do’s and dont’s for monitoring, with a strong emphasis on feedback avoidance. Will also dig deeper into signal processing like compression and the effect it has in a live sound setting. Then will touch on putting the package together in a full system!

This workshop includes: hands on training,  lunch, time to network, $10 off your next 2018 Cape Cod Sound School workshop,  and is for ages 15+.
